After billions of years of evolution, we had made truly remarkable strides. Behold the wondrous creatures of today! From plants to fish to amphibians to reptiles to birds to mammals, life was thriving on this lush and fertile planet. To watch it all unfold was truly breathtaking.

And yet, even the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex, who we had hoped would become the first conscious being on account of its great power and great responsibility, had not. After all this evolution, something was still missing. The animals were concerned with little other than survival. That was understandable, given the conditions they lived in, which would quickly kill off any creature that wasn't fanatically focused on surviving.

But souls still didn't have access to a life form capable of true consciousness, and thus after billions of years, they were still waiting for a chance to experience life in the way they wanted to.

However, evolution was clearly speeding up. Within a geologically short period of time, there would surely be a species that would be just perfect. Or perfectly imperfect rather, having all the flaws that would allow it to learn from its mistakes, but giving us exactly what we were looking for. Just a bit more patience, and the global consciousness would finally be able to develop itself in the physical plane.

Unfortunately, we didn't all see it that way. The one who would be known as Mrityu considered the experiment a failure. To him, since the best of our efforts had failed thus far, we were taking the wrong approach to life in the physical plane. He had waited too long for his chance to gain physical form with enough mind power to carry out his life plans.
