I headed that way, hoping that Frank was there but also thinking about what I was going to do if he wasn't. I got to the bathroom, and opened the door. It was empty. Of course it was. Now what?
I was too anxious to just sit there waiting for him to show up. I had to go find him. And while I didn't have access to absolutely every square inch of the building, I was going to do my best.
So I started walking. I went up and down every hallway and corridor, stuck my head into every room and office, and searched every nook and cranny. I didn't find anyone.
But someone found me. It wasn't Frank. Even before I saw his face, I could tell who it was from his trademark black cape. Why did he always have to wear the cape?
It was my boss. We usually called him Morty, but he was more formally known as Count Voldemort Sidious Hitler the Terrible (no relation to anyone you may have in mind).
He actually was a count, a title he had attained as a young man in his native Romania. But he had left his homeland long ago to come to the United States. He quickly became interested in the practice of mesothelioma law, and found that he had an extraordinary aptitude for it.
His natural abilities by themselves were quite remarkable. But coupled with the fortuitous event of forming connections with three other great legal minds, just at the time that mesothelioma was starting to really take off, he was destined for greatness. Together with his three colleagues, he founded the firm of Dewey, Cheatem & Howe, and took his place in the history of mesothelioma law.
