Mesothelioma Lawyers, New York
Maybe one day the town of Mesothelioma Lawyers, New York would be renamed as simply Mesothelioma, New York, reflecting a greater emphasis on the disease that was finally starting to catch up in prominence to the lawyers that made their living from it. Not that a new town name would be such a great victory; just making an observation.
We were habitually spellbound by mesothelioma fever. Everyone in town owned a mesothelioma hat, a mesothelioma sweatshirt, mesothelioma banners, mesothelioma coasters, a mesothelioma dinette set, and so forth. But occasionally, I would have brief moments of lucidity, in which I questioned whether this cancer of all cancers was really all it was cracked up to be.
I didn't know a whole lot of my family history, but I knew enough for a rational person to be concerned. A couple of years after they had walled us in, my dad passed away from mesothelioma. About ten years later, my mom went too, also from mesothelioma. My brother and his wife are both currently undergoing chemotherapy as treatment for mesothelioma, and all four of my grandparents had succumbed to mesothelioma.
How about that? A family full of perfectly ordinary people, every single one of whom went on to become a mesothelioma lawyer, and every single one of whom had died or was dying from the disease. I suppose that's the way I'm going to go too, but I can't predict that kind of thing nearly as well as my wife can.
My wife is one of the two people I know who is not a mesothelioma lawyer. However, she is a mesothelioma doctor, because it's almost impossible to make a living in this town without being connected in some way to the cancer it's built on. Her full name is Milli Vanilli Chilli Willi, but I usually just call her Milli, unless I'm in a playful mood.
