Programs like Sesame Street and Dora the Explorer could reach these kids in a way nothing else could, so they were obvious targets. By using its massive coffers to bribe the television station executives, big mesothelioma embedded subliminal messages in every 32nd frame of the most popular childrens' shows, and had the altered versions broadcast only within the town limits.

This psychological weapon infiltrated every home unnoticed, seeping into the impressionable minds of the town's future leaders. Because their minds were poisoned from birth, every passing day took them further and further down the path that had been laid out for them.

Resistance was futile. They had been assimilated.

Perhaps you now understand why they named the town Mesothelioma Lawyers, New York.

That wasn't its original name, of course, since the town would have been founded long before anyone knew what mesothelioma was. But it's not known what the original name was, when it was renamed, or when the first mesothelioma cases were reported. For some reason, there were no historical records dating back to before the early 1930s.

Now in the days of the internet, nothing is ever lost. Everything that is ever said anywhere online is out there forever, disseminated across numerous web servers around the world. History can be erased from one location, but not before it pops up in many more. History can fade from memory, or be buried under a mountain of rumor and hearsay, but it was never truly lost, not to someone with the resolve to sift through all the data and pull out the truth.
